The Meaning of Happiness / How happy are you?
Has anyone ever asked you, "Are you happy?" Does this question make you stop and really think about your answer?... or do you emphatically answer, "YES!" or do you offer a somber, "No, not really." The truth the definition for happiness is a subjective thing (isn't it?), so it is very difficult to answer unless you really know yourself.
Some types of happiness are relative to different people. Here is what happiness may mean to some:
- The meaning of happiness for entrepreneurs: Receiving a phone call that your angel money of
$1 Million has been confirmed... the transfer is complete, and your project is a "Go."
- The meaning of happiness for Harry Potter fans: Discovering that J. K. Rowling has changed her mind about ending the saga of Harry Potter and is now writing a new series on the bespectacled boy wizard.
- The meaning of happiness for thrill junkies: Parachuting out of of a Cessna 182 from 5 miles above the ground to begin a week-long trip of river rafting on the Colorado River.
What makes you happy?
Whatever the cause of one’s happiness, the feeling associated with it is pretty much the same; contentment, peaceful and joyful. The person feels blessed, hopeful, and even giddy...
A sense of inherent optimisim is also in play. The individual reaction will depend on how the stimulus makes the person happy, happier or happiest.
And yet, for all the many things in the world that can possibly make us happy, many of us still whine about not finding happiness. So, why is true happiness often so elusive?
Finding our core of happiness
According to acclaimed speaker, trainer, consultant and entrepreneur Jack Zufelt, in his article entitled “How to Discover Your Switch to Unlimited Success in Life,” it is difficult to understand and achieve the true meaning of happiness unless we tap into our Core Desire.
A core desire is something that we want so bad, every atom in our body is screaming for it. It holds such power over us that we will do everything and anything in our power to get it. When we get in touch with it, and actually use it, we will experience authentic success.
To discover our core desire, Zufelt, the presidential Medal of Merit recipient and Winner's Digest awardee as one of America’s most effective speakers advised that we ask ourselves the following questions:
- “What would I like to have that I don’t currently have?”
- "If I had that what would that give me that I don't have?"
So, what makes you happy?
The answer to these questions will lead us to our core desire, the pursuit and attainment of which will give us immense joy and fulfillment.
We will know if we have finally made friends with our core desire when we start manifesting abundance and start succeeding at anything we set our minds to achieve.
It is only by tapping into this potent force called 'Core Desire' that we will find happiness and satisfaction in all areas of our lives.
